SNAP Thanks CEL for Grant

SNAP Thanks CEL for Grant

Special Needs Arts Programs, Inc., (SNAP) today announced it has received a grant from the Community Endowment of Lexington, which is an endowed fund of the Foundation for MetroWest. This grant will fund Special Artists art exhibits throughout Lexington over the next year. Special Artists is a visual arts program at SNAP for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. An important part of the mission at SNAP is to raise awareness of the talents and accomplishments of people with special needs. Art provides the opportunity to be creative, communicate thoughts and feelings, and share your perspective on the world. SNAP provides programming for wide variety of people, from those in their teens to seniors in their seventies. SNAP participants may have been born with an intellectual or developmental disability or as a result of a traumatic brain injury later in life.
SNAP programs constitute a supportive and nurturing community where people come together to not only create music and art, but also to grow personally through trying new things, taking risks, making friends and expanding social connections. SNAP provides programming in music and the arts for people with a variety of intellectual and developmental disabilities or traumatic brain injuries. SNAP performs concerts and holds art exhibits throughout the year to celebrate the accomplishments of people with disabilities as well as raise awareness of how people with special needs contribute to the cultural richness of our community.
“SNAP is very grateful to the Community Endowment of Lexington for believing in the importance of our programming and for celebrating the talents and achievements of people with special needs in our community,” said Heidi O’Mara, Executive Director of SNAP.
