National Farmers' Market Week & Birthday Celebration - Tuesday, August 6

Join the Lexington Farmers’ Market in celebrating National Farmers’ Market Week and our 15th Birthday on Tuesday, August 6 from 2:00 - 6:30 pm! To kick off the celebration, MDAR Commissioner John Lebeaux will read Governor Baker’s Farmers’ Market Week Proclamation at 2:15 PM, joined by other state officials, including State Senator Mike Barrett and State Representative Michelle Ciccolo.  
 
Look for the “Know Your Farmer” scavenger hunt for kids complete with fun prizes, free tastings from Chef Steve at CHOPPS Bar & Grill, photo boards of the LFM past and present, sharing of market memories, fun facts about the LFM farmers and vendors, free temporary tattoos. To top it all off, there will be a birthday celebration of the LFM at 4:00 pm; come sing Happy Birthday to the LFM and join in the tasty fun ! A complete line-up of events is below.  
 
2 - 4 pm: Music by Geoff Keith, guitar and vocals (also LFM board member & entertainment coordinator)  
 
2:15 pm: Reading of the Proclamation by MDAR Commissioner John Lebeaux and Presentation of Citation to the LFM by State Senator Mike Barrett, joined by State Rep. Michelle Ciccolo, Chief of Staff, Dept. of Transitional Assistance Chief of Staff Melissa Pullin and Mass Farmers Markets Exec. Director Edith Murnane. Following the remarks, they’ll then visit the market to learn more about the farmers, vendors and community that make the LFM such a vibrant place to celebrate healthy and local food!  
 
2:30 - 5 pm: Free Samples prepared by Chef Steve Zimei from Chopps  
 
4 pm: Sing Happy Birthday to the LFM and join in the party!  
 
4:30 - 6:30 pm: Music by Willie T. & Dr. X  
 
The LFM will be open every Tuesday from 2-6:30 from May 28 to October 29 (closing at 6PM in October) at the corner of Mass Avenue and Fletcher Avenue, the gateway to historic Lexington. The LFM is a producer-only market, ensuring that what you find is fresh and local, sustainably raised and carefully crafted by the farmers and vendors of the LFM. Each week, there will be approximately twenty-four farmers and vendors on-site, including guest vendors, with a total of 35 farmers/vendors participating in the 2019 season.  
 
We accept SNAP and WIC/Senior FMNP coupons; the LFM's SNAP program matches up to $15 weekly. Two LFM farmers participate in the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP): Stillman's Farm and Busa Farm.  
 
Free and metered parking is available. The market is adjacent to the Minuteman Bikeway and on MBTA Bus Route 62 and 76, which can be picked up at the Alewife T station.
